Juicer

This image was taken using a Polarizing filter f.16, 15 sec, with the camera based on a tripod.

I feel that the use of black and white set against the white background highlights the the shapes and angles of the product.

The reflections help to add interest to the viewers eye hence removing the mundane piece of kitchen utensil and replacing it with a sassier version.

I feel that the contrasting of the lighting set against the black and white is key to gaining this as i don't think that the use of colour would have generated the same effect.

This image was taken using a Polarizing filter f.16, 15 sec. Mixed lighting was used this being Tungsten and daylight i feel that this works well in contrasting light and dark within the black and white image.

The perforations and angles creates patterns to the viewers eye hence removing the sense of boring utensil to something that is pretty and quite complexed as a small piece of equipment.

Cheese Grater

This image was taken using a macro lens 105mm, mixed lighting being daylight and Tungsten, the camera was based on a Tripod f.5.6., ISO 200, 1/2 sec, ISO 200.

I feel that this continuation of the cheese grater shows it at a completely different angle and from a whole perspective. The use of black and white works well in highlighting the depth of the graters again highlighting texture within the image.

This image was taken using a macro and angle Macro lens 105mm, mixed lighting daylight and tungsten the camera was based on a tripod f.5.6, ISO 200 @1,2 sec.

I feel that the use of light and dark contrast works very well with this as it highlights the angles on the utensil. The dark creates a bit of dramatic mood whilst the light creates definition to the graters created a sense of texture within the final image.

Corkscrew

This image was taken using a Polarising Vignette f.16, 15 seconds shutter speed.

I like this image as again it puts a different slant on a boring utensil making it interesting to the viewers eye. The use of black and white contrasts against the dark to light background creating a sense of mood. This image was taken using a tripod and automatic cable release.

Colanders

I like this image as I feel that it draws the viewers eyes into it, by placing the smaller Colander inside the larger one I feel that the setting up creates depth of field within the image. Again in this image as with the others reflection is highlighted and is a key part of the final image a long with the perforations means that patterns are included reducing the sense of mundane kitchen utensil to fancy and interesting.

In the shoot I used a Nikon D700 using a Macro lens, I used mixed lighting these being Tungsten and daylight, which I feel work well as they are bouncing of the whole final picture evenly. This image was taken using a tripod and slow shutter speed the choice to edit in black and white I feel benefits the final picture as the contrast highlights definition and curvature.

Aspargus kettle

This was my first image I like this image as it puts a curve and turn on the mundane kitchen utensils, my aim was to create a twist to the boring standard's of these.

I created this by using a Nikon D700, using the Macro lens and by taking the picture up close, and positioning the utensil on its side. The most important aspect of the shoot was to ensure that it was highly polished to help capture the reflection with in the final image.

I also feel that producing the image in black and white increases the contrast and defines the images curves and refections.
